SCRA-Academia Collaboration Team Feasibility Grants

The SCRA-Academia Collaboration Team (SACT)  is a seven-member committee with representatives from the Comprehensive Research Universities, primarily undergraduate institutions, the technical college system, industry and SCRA. The Team is focused on the formation of Collaboration Centers, which are founded on a high caliber, critical mass of talent, infrastructure, financial resources, intellectual property and translational relevance that will result in national recognition as a leading research center, industry engagement, job creation and positive economic impact in the state of South Carolina. The SACT defined the key criteria for qualifying as a CC as the following:

  • Economic significance and ability to address industry needs in a growing market
  • Brings together existing resources across multiple institutions with the ability to rise to a level of national repute
  • Clear path to attracting further resources
  • CC gaps can be addressed with readily identified resources (internal and external)
  • Create an opportunity for jobs, workforce development and business growth

Currently, the SACT is assessing the feasibility of establishing Collaboration Centers in three areas of research. The SACT will be awarding grant funding in these three fields of research in accordance with this solicitation.
